Internet Explorer 8 Users: Time to Update
Last month we warned our merchants using Windows XP about upcoming deadlines that will affect PCI compliance. This month, our announcement goes out to our users with Internet Explorer 8 (IE 8). As of early 2015, Shift4 will no longer support IE 8 and therefore you will not be able to access DOLLARS ON THE NET® if you’re running that browser.
This is due to security concerns tied to Microsoft’s cessation of support for mainstream Windows 7. That means after that deadline, when you go to log in to DOLLARS ON THE NET you will receive a pop-up screen informing you that you’re on an outdated Web browser and that you must update in order to access DOLLARS ON THE NET.
Now, I know that I just gave you a deadline of over a year from now so you may be tempted to push off this update. But don’t! Depending on the size and complexity of your business, updating your system could take several months. The simplest update you could do is get the next version, Internet Explorer 9. Versions 9, 10, and 11 will continue to be supported by Microsoft and therefore you’ll still have access to DOLLARS ON THE NET.
It is important to keep your system up-to-date not only to keep your access to DOLLARS ON THE NET, but each new browser version released by its manufacturer is safer and faster than the previous one. And the more advanced notice you can give your IT contact about this browser update, the easier and smoother your transition will be!

Here’s a quick way to know: did you purchase your computer(s) five or more years ago and haven’t installed updated Microsoft software since? If so, then it’s time to update.
