DOLLARS ON THE NET Advanced Search
We all know that the dryer steals socks and the couch occasionally likes to swallow the remote control, but have you ever had your POS or PMS eat a transaction? You know, the kind of transaction that doesn’t process quite right and then vanishes and leaves you scratching your head, wondering where on earth it ended up.
Unfortunately, we can’t help you with the sock problem, but we do have some insight on disappearing transactions. This can happen for a number of reasons, but most often, it is some sort of communication error that causes all or part of the transaction to get lost between the POS/PMS and DOLLARS ON THE NET®.
If part of the transaction makes it through, your customer may be charged, so immediately trying to process the sale again can result in double charges (which will result in a frustrated customer and a possible chargeback when they realize what has happened). In order to avoid this, we’ve built features into DOLLARS ON THE NET that help you track down errant transactions.
You may have noticed the additional search criteria options listed in our full searches. (Not the little search box you see on every page, but the full, detailed search you can access through either the Current or Archive menu options.) These detailed searches allow you to look for the missing transactions using the first and last four digits of the card number, the invoice number, timeframe, cardholder name, dollar amount, clerk ID number, or any transaction-specific notes you may have entered.
So, before processing a second time, take a moment to search for the transaction and be sure you don’t end up double billing your client.
