In 1994, Shift4 developed $$$ IN THE BANK for Windows, the most powerful credit card middleware and management software ever produced. It was this fully integrated, multi-merchant, bank independent, real-time payment solution that helped Shift4 grow into the dominant industry player it is today.

$$$ IN THE BANK provided customers with a universal electronic payment processing application with a robust and scalable PC/server-based platform for the authorization, settlement and management of credit cards and other forms of electronic payment. Its flexible Application Program Interface (API) allowed virtually any application (POS, PMS, CRS, Call Center, E-Commerce, IVR, Kiosk, Wireless Device or PC-Workstation) to leverage the power of $$$ IN THE BANK.

$$$ IN THE BANK provided customers with increased control over transactions while maintaining a comprehensive transaction record. Merchants could utilize the system to determine and address transaction issues that were causing downgrades and consequently increasing their discount rates. Diverse, multi-site enterprises benefited from complete access to information by profit center, location or even enterprise-wide.

WinTx

WinTx expanded the power of $$$ IN THE BANK by allowing multiple operators to process real-time authorizations from any Windows 95/NT PC on the company LAN/WAN. Users simply keyed or swiped card data into WinTx's straightforward interface and within seconds, authorization responses were delivered directly to the user's desktops. The $$$ IN THE BANK engine provided a communication gateway for this versatile transaction processing utility and supported multiple WinTx clients processing transactions simultaneously. It eliminated all additional modems, phone lines or terminal hardware.

CashHere

The CashHere system allowed credit card holders to draw cash advances from their card accounts without requiring a PIN number. By providing customers with convenient access to their cash funds, merchants were able to deliver a valuable service while encouraging consumer spending. CashHere eliminated the middlemen involved in the cash advance process.

Virtual Leased Line

Swift credit card authorizations are vital to good customer service, but the cost of installing and maintaining dedicated leased line connectivity to a bank's processing network was painfully expensive. To combat this, Shift4 introduced the Virtual Leased Line (VLL). VLL delivered dedicated leased line performance to physical and virtual points of sale, at less than dial-up prices. Every point-of-sale within an enterprise could enjoy fast authorization and settlement responses via Shift4's high-speed processor leased lines. VLL was one of Shift4's most powerful product additions and helped pave the way for many of the industry's biggest technological advances.

DOLLARS ON THE NET

In 1999, Shift4 developed DOLLARS ON THE NET, the only Application Service Provider (ASP) paradigm middleware to support every major merchant type, including hotels, restaurants, retail stores, rental cars, ticketing, mail order telephone order, ecommerce and more. DOLLARS ON THE NET provided all of the power, flexibility and control of $$$ IN THE BANK in a web-based solution. Dedicated infrastructure was no longer required, installation was simplified, transactions were faster and costs were lowered.
