Merchants using Shift4's DOLLARS ON THE NET® Gateway can implement 4Go™ to resolve PCI mandates and avoid non-compliance charges

Las Vegas, Nevada (February 26, 2009) Shift4 Corporation, a supplier of secure payment processing services, today announced that merchants can implement Shift4's Card Information Replacement TechnologySM (CIRT) to help resolve Payment Card Industry (PCI) mandates and avoid non-compliance charges.

Some merchants are currently being notified by their Merchant Service Provider that if they do not provide validation of their current PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance status, they will be charged a non-compliance fee. In some instances, these fees are being activated as soon as March 1, 2009.

Given the current economic conditions, many merchants do not have the required resources to replace or update their Point-of-Sale (POS) or Property Management Systems (PMS) in order to comply with PCI mandates. Additional fines and fees for non-compliance only make this situation more problematic. For merchants using Shift4's DOLLARS ON THE NET® Gateway with 4Go SafeSwipe™, the security and PCI compliance benefits are provided at no additional cost.

Shift4's 4Go™ solution completely removes any payment application from the PCI DSS equation because actual cardholder data is never processed, stored or transmitted. Shift4's products are validated by Visa's Payment Application Best Practices (PABP) and grandfathered under the Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS).

“If a merchant is using DOLLARS ON THE NET with 4Go, they are using a validated payment application,” stated JD Oder, Founder and CTO of Shift4 Corporation.

With 4Go in place, the non-compliant POS/PMS is no longer handling cardholder data. Actual cardholder data is never allowed to enter the system and is replaced with false data. Because Shift4 is PCI DSS compliant and its products are PA-DSS listed, the requirements are therefore met.

Merchants using Shift4's 4Go technology have no cardholder data in their system to store or protect. The combination of 4Go with Tokenization provides a unique ID or Token that is valid for up to 24 months and can be used for any purpose that actual cardholder data would be. In the event of a breach, the false data or Token from Shift4 is not considered actual cardholder data and therefore need not be reported as such if stolen.
