i4Go - 4Go for the Internet

for•go [fawr-goh]-verb (used with object), 1. do without.

To "4Go" actual cardholder data is one way Shift4 is
helping merchants achieve real security and to
simplify PCI compliance.

i4GoSM

i4Go was designed to protect cardholder data (CHD) in what we like to call "click and mortar" environments - those eCommerce business environments with Internet browser-based applications integrating both online (Web site) and/or onsite (kiosk, Software as a Service) technologies.

i4Go safely and securely integrates into both card-present and card-not-present environments using a browser-embedded application at the point of sale. i4Go provides the same layer of security and CHD protection for eCommerce environments as 4Go® does for traditional brick-and-mortar, non-browser based environments. And for the "click and mortar" environments, i4Go greatly simplifies PA-DSS. By implementing the i4Go technology, merchants can be confident that they are using a secure and reliable service that will simplify PCI while protecting their customers' sensitive information as well as their own company brand.

i4Go's exclusive Internet protocols secure sensitive CHD before it ever enters the merchant site or hosting provider's system. Shift4 is committed to successful, secured integrations between the merchants Internet (browser-based) application and point-of-sale system by providing three unique options:

  • Page Redirect – At the point of sale, the customer is seamlessly redirected to Shift4’s secure payment gateway where CHD information is safely collected on behalf of the merchant.
  • Pop-Up – At the point of sale, the customer is presented with a secured Shift4 pop-up window overlapping the merchants Internet application, allowing the customer to safely enter his or her CHD to complete the transaction.
  • Direct Post – At the point of sale, the customer safely enters his or her CHD directly into the merchant’s application using an integrated and secured Shift4 form.

DOLLARS ON THE NET® then employs TrueTokenization technology to generate a random, alphanumeric TrueToken to reference the data. The actual CHD is sent to Shift4's PCI-compliant data centers for storage while the token is used to complete the transaction. Since the token merely references the real data associated with the specific transaction, it can be stored and used for later authorization, settlement, and reoccurring charges.

With the use of i4Go, CHD never enters the merchant's browser-based application and/or hosting provider’s environment. If the merchant never comes into contact with the sensitive data, the burden of protecting CHD is completely alleviated. Because no CHD is being stored, processed, or transmitted by the merchant site or hosting provider environment, the scope of PCI is greatly reduced and in most eCommerce cases, eliminated.
